Foundation Day

Big week of success'... first the shower, then the cleaning, and most recently the Foundation Day!

On Wednesday night the University had a big celebration for its opening day anniversary. This night was particularly exciting and important because the Bangladesh Home Minister was visiting. It is highly likely that you are asking, why the 'home' minister and not the minister of 'education'... very good question... we are still slightly perplexed by this, but it turns out he is a MAJOR supporter of private education and has been a great influence in the political side of things for Dr. Miya (the founder of IUBAT). So we tagged a long and were equally excited about his arrival.
Here is a picture of the Home Minister (middle) and Dr. Miyan (right) during the presentation, not great quality because we were sitting far away.

The day of the opening of our lab was filled with preparation speeches by the students, role playing, and nervous laughs. These students were primarily fourth year students, a couple third year and second years were there as well.

Music Interlude- Heidi is singing Mariah Carey "Hero"... she sounds just like her.

Okay... back to this blog...The lab was all set up- a plan made up by the students, each student were at their assigned station (also done by the students) There was a reception desk, hand washing station (done by our second year student, yay!), anatomy table, CPR station, microbiology set up and then a mock female and male ward. Here is a glimpse:

Here are the students that were involved in the making of the Nursing Exhibit! Before it was opened we all waited outside so we could keep the floors clean :)

The group did such a great job, it was really motivating to see them so keen and proud of their hard work. It is going to be a great semester!
