Shower Success!!

For all of you devoted followers... we have a grand announcement to make... we have mastered the shower!  Yes folks, we now love the bucket shower! We have united forces to create a joyful water experience. The revelation came when we realized you must embrace the bucket and use no reservations... you splash and dump the water proudly!! It is like being a kid again, water flying everywhere, everything is soaking, but that's the whole point! It will dry eventually! Although be sure to remove the toilet and place in a position of safety.

Onward to the purpose of our trip... today is the foundation day for the university, the anniversary of its first opening. We have been preparing the nursing lab for this prestigious event since Monday. Luckily we have had some students to help us...and students who now have embraced the dirty work. Heidi and I first began to tackle the lab on Monday, and when we say tackle, we mean sleeves rolled up and hands blackened with dust. We had cupboards opened, inventory happening, gauze being sorted, IV's being color coded, garbage being tossed; we had sweeping, wiping, washing and the frequent "ah!" when we came across ANOTHER dead mouse, but we kept going... no reservations! At first the students were in shock... there expressions depicted a question resembling to: "are these people from another planet?" As I am sure many of you can imagine.... if your there to help and don't have a job yet, then you better believe we will give you one. The students quickly adapted and began cleaning hand in hand with us, it was amazing. We finished at 5pm and gave clear instructions to the students for the following day. They of course nodded, smiled, and stated 'of course ma'am, no problem."

The following day our work ethic had rubbed off, the three students from the previous day were in their like a dirty shirt, what an amazing job they did! It was really awesome to see them taking initiative. If they saw someone who didn't have a 'job' they were quick to report to us "Ma'am, he needs a job, do you have a job for him?" You bet we have a job for them. I should also make note that Jim and Nancy probably thought we were from another planet as well. Lets say we haven't held back on our true selves. Bingo bongo, the lab is coming together!

The reception, touring, and presentation happen today starting at four. The students will run the lab and we will only be there to supervise. We are confident they will do an exceptional job. They should be very proud to show their hard work to the Home Minister who will be attending.

We will let you know how it goes!
Also a cute and funny movie we watched last night was The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. A lot of it similar to Bangladesh :)

Love Heidi and Ricki
